Chairman's Message:

As I reflect on the election season, I think about what has transpired over the last 2 years.

Like all the effort that was put in by the candidates, the current administration and everyone

else in NRU that put in so many hours to make this happen. For anyone that hasn’t been involved

in a political party or ran for an office, it is a hard but rewarding process and I commend

anyone that takes their time to try to make the place they live better.

As with the last election I can honestly say that we, the North Riverside United Party, have

not been involved in mud slinging but have defended our position when necessary. We realize

that you have had your fill of negativity and silly memes put out on social media. We have stayed

above those high school antics and have worked hard to bring you the best candidates that are

on the 2023 slate. We started the process of interviewing candidates in August and are excited

for Tuesday's outcome.

As I look at the latest MIP mailer a few words come to mind. Free. Proof. Facts. Whenever I get

a piece of literature and it says something is “free” the first thing I think is, “OK, what will

this cost me”? As we all know, nothing comes for free except promises during election season.

Whether you are fixing your faucet or a standpipe everything comes with a cost. People who aren’t

good at fixing a faucet hire a plumber so the project is done correctly. Can you imagine the

expertise to hire the right “plumber” to renovate a standpipe that is responsible for 7,000+

residents and all the daily visitors to our businesses? This is not a time to cut corners.

Proof. There are many allegations but no proof. It’s easy to accuse but hard to come up with

any proof of accusations that have no foundation.

Facts. The fact is we are in a hard economic time and the record of the NRU speaks for itself.

The current administration had to make some difficult decisions that are measured in hundreds

of thousands of dollars. Not pennies.

I am not a big social media user but enjoy a good conversation and, sometimes, a debate. If anyone

would like to reach out for more information on the party and what we stand for please send a mail

to NRU or send a request on our Facebook page.
